The end is almost here for the Clayton Valley Charter High School Class of 2026.
With graduation coming up on June 4, at 7 p.m. at the Concord Pavilion, the senior class is busy finishing their final projects and enjoying these last few weeks together.
However, seniors have also been feeling a bit nostalgic.
Senior Shourya Chauhan reflected on the past four years, noting that it wasn't always easy.
“The hardest part was balancing schoolwork with my extracurriculars,” he said.
Chauhan also mentioned that if he could go back to his freshman year, he would have been more focused on picking the classes that would best help him get into college.
Through all the stress, he highlighted how important it was to have supportive teachers. Specifically, he gave credit to Patrick Lefiti, his counselor, for helping him get through his freshman year.
“If I had to choose a teacher, I would choose Lefiti because he got me through all these years and helped me through them.”
As graduation approaches, feelings among the student body are mixed. For senior Melissa Vazquez, the end of this chapter brings a sense of reflection.
“I wish I had been more involved,” she admitted. Looking back on the past years of high school, she added, “It’s ending and I'm gonna miss it, but I honestly wouldn’t do it all again.”
While seniors prepare to leave once and for all, underclassmen are beginning to feel the weight of their absence.

Sophomore Mehak Mirza is already bracing for the quiet that will follow the seniors' exit.
“I’m going to miss my senior friends,” she said. “They honestly were the time of my life, but you kinda feel it coming with the hundred senior events they have, like senior sunset.”
Graduation is a huge milestone, and for many, it’s a little scary to be in the spotlight.
Chauhan shared that he is nervous about the ceremony itself.
“I’m scared. I don’t want it to go crickets when they say my name,” he says.
But mostly, he and his classmates are ready to celebrate. Instead of feeling sad, he says he expects to be "hype" for his big moment on stage.
As the countdown to June 4 continues, the school is getting ready with preparations. Seniors are managing their ticket situation, which includes 10 tickets per graduate.
They’re also making plans for the transition to whatever comes next, whether that’s college, work, or travel.
