STUNT, Lacrosse raise the bar with historic postseason ending

As spring sports come to an end, a couple of Clayton Valley’s girls' teams ended their season making history.
Clayton Valley's STUNT team won the North Coast Section championship for the first time, and then placed second in the state competition. The girls' lacrosse team also qualified for the NCS playoffs for the first time.
The STUNT team has become one of the greatest highlights of the school year after winning NCS for the first time. They showed constant determination and major growth throughout the season. Their victory at NCS secured them a spot at the state competition, where they would face the top teams in California.
At state, the team ultimately placed second to Oak Ridge. The STUNT team finished with a score of 15, while Oak Ridge finished with 25.
Some of the players said that the accomplishments reflected their hard work and effort that they put in throughout the season.
“Winning NCS felt unreal, because we put in so much time and effort preparing for it,” junior Gianna Ware said.
The preparation the STUNT team endured was intense. From practicing routines over and over, to having six practices a week for three hours.
When asked about what continued to lead this team to achieve great things, Ware added that “the communication we have on and off the mat is a big part,” she said. “Also, the dedication everyone has to keep showing up.”
While the STUNT team was celebrating the accomplishments of their season, the girls lacrosse team also made history by qualifying for NCS for the first time. This achievement is all due to the team's hard work throughout the season.
“When I found out we made it, I was in shock,” varsity player Oliva Smith said. “I was very happy and proud of the team because we worked hard for this.”
The team qualified for NCS with an overall record of 8-9 before falling to Justin-Siena 15-5 in the first round of the playoffs.
